Population Connection Action Fund Endorses Russ Feingold for the United States Senate
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Oct. 21, 2015
WASHINGTON, DC – Population Connection Action Fund, the political arm of Population Connection and America’s population movement, announced today its endorsement of Russ Feingold for the United States Senate from Wisconsin.
“Population Connection Action Fund is proud to endorse Russ Feingold for the United States Senate,” said John Seager, president of Population Connection Action Fund. “Feingold never fails to be a steadfast champion for women’s health and reproductive rights. He is a strong advocate for families in Wisconsin and across the country.”
During his time in the Senate, Feingold was a dedicated champion for women and their right to have autonomy over their bodies and healthcare decisions. He consistently sponsored legislation to protect reproductive rights and support the expansion of access to modern contraception and safe, legal abortion at every turn. He has also been a fearless advocate for continued U.S. funding to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and comprehensive sex education efforts to reduce teenage pregnancy rates.
“I believe in the principle of gender equality, and have taken the lead in addressing issues affecting women’s health in the workplace,” Feingold has stated. “I also support the Supreme Court’s decision in Roe v. Wade to uphold a woman’s right to reproductive freedom. I believe abortions should be rare, legal, and safe. We must also consider the challenges facing women abroad. Women in the developing world are more likely to live in poverty, suffer from malnutrition, and lack access to education. Despite the expansion of women’s health care research and practices in the last two decades, women still have unequal access to these services.”
“We are excited to help bring Russ Feingold back to the United States Senate,” Seager said.
