in the midst of a historic government shutdown, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell brought to the floor the misleadingly-named "No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act." The bill would codify the Hyde Amendment, and would bar anyone receiving subsidies for health care under the ACA from purchasing any plan that covered abortion services. The bill failed to gain the 60 votes needed to end debate and move to a final vote.
